Not quite ready for overnight camp yet? Then we have the perfect solution for you! Read more about our Day Camp program HERE and register for Day Camp. Registration opens Spring of 2017!
The YMCA Rags and Leathers Program is centered on personal growth. Through goal setting, commitment, and positive values, campers learn to assess their strengths as well as areas in their personal lives needing improvement, usually with a focus on behavior or spiritual growth. This is an optional program for campers wanting to dedicate themselves to continued self improvement.
Campers are organized into cabin groups by age. We will honor up to two friend requests provided that the requests are made in advance and the campers are within one year in age.* Most of our campers come without a buddy and make friends quickly.
*All friend requests must be mutually documented. For example, both campers have to request each other on their form for this to be honored.
Food is fuel out at camp! Campers are playing hard all day long. Therefore, camp menus are carefully selected to provide a balanced diet. Meal times are 8:00 a.m., 12:30 p.m. and 5:45 p.m. Fresh fruit and a peanut butter and jelly station is available at all meals with respect to peanut or other allergies. A supplemental cereal bar is offered at breakfast and a salad bar is available at lunch and dinner.
Special Dietary Needs
If your child has any food allergies or dietary needs, please note these on their medical forms. If you want to speak with the Food Service Director or Camp Director about these needs, call 214.319.9944 at least a week in advance. We will do our best to accommodate all required dietary restrictions.
Do you provide transportation?
You can either drop your child off directly at camp on Possum Kingdom Lake or they can ride our bus from the SMU campus. We transport from DFW & Love Field Airports too.
Is Financial Assistance available?
We work hard at raising money every year to provide scholarships for every child who wants to attend camp. For more info and to start the application process, email: LCUETO@YMCADALLAS.ORG
Where will my child sleep?
We have fully air-conditioned cabins with bunk beds at Main & Ray Bean.
How can I keep up with my child while they are at camp?
Every night we upload photos to a password protected site. We also post photos onto our social media pages each week. More details in our Parent Handbook on how you can contact your Camper. You are also welcome to mail letters!
